The first thing I must say, Hot Tub Time Machine is definitely not in the same league as H. G. Wells, but do not hold that against it. The writers Josh Heald, Sean Anders and John Morris came up with a catchy title that really says it all - it is a hot tub, it is a time machine. What more can you say? It enabled them to catch and compare the feel and morality of the eighties and give you a humorous story about friendship. The director Steve Pink has created the eighties in a way that should appeal and produce nostalgia in anyone between the ages of thirty and fifty, the Generation X'ers. Easily a cross between 'Back To The Future' and 'The Hangover' it is the story of three almost friends Adam, Lou and Nick who have serious life issues together with Adam's post-teen nephew, Jacob. Throw out the time travelling and science textbooks with this film, in fact probably throw out the mathematics one too if you try to figure Jacob's actual age, this film does not take any of it seriously. They are transported to 1986 and trying to work out how to get out of it without changing history, or indeed Jacob's existence, who was conceived in that year.

Rob Corddry the clown doctor, Dr. Blake Downs of Childrens' Hospital and Ron Fox in Harold and Kumar Escape from Guantanamo Bay plays an alcoholic loner, Lou. A party guy who never gets invited to any self respecting parties, who never grew up and becomes an annoyance to all his old friends. He has reached the low point in his life where he smashes his car into his garage and drunkenly tries to commit suicide from carbon monoxide intoxication. Lou is really the main character in this movie, totally obnoxious in the beginning, and actually for the most part of the movie, but we see the biggest change in his circumstances when he discovers that he really does have friends.

Craig Robertson who plays Darryl Philbin of the US version of 'The Office' and has just completed "Shrek Forever After" plays Nick Webber-Agneu. He has a double barrelled name, henpecked to the point of including his wife Courtney Agneu's (Kellee Stewart) surname as part of his own. He was the lead singer of a local band that never made an impression and was quickly forgotten. His job in the present as a veterinary surgeon reaches lows like having to pull out BMW keys from a poor limping dog brought in unlikable owners such as Thomas Lennon, who plays Lt. Jim Dangle from Reno 911. He is broken by the discovery of an email that shows that his wife has previously cheated on him, even though Nick is has been absolutely faithful to her.

John Cusack, who has just completed Shanghai and previously was Jackson Curtis in 2012 and also as the voice of Igor plays Adam. Adam's relationship with his girlfriend has completely broken down and she has moved out and taken most of contents of their house. Adam's love life has taken a complete dive and it always seems like he has picked the wrong partner to settle down with and Adam is preoccupied with the decisions he made that got him into this situation. Just as everything is going wrong he unfortunately has additional responsibilities, since Lou's suicide attempt has put him in the position of having to be responsible and take care for him.

Clark Duke, who has just completed A Thousand Words and previously as Dale Kettlewell in the three years of the series Greek plays Jacob. He is Adam's video game-obsessed nephew who spends most of his life virtually in Second Life in the basement of Adam's home. Consider him as Generation Y and who never completely understands the experience of the eighties.

Another main character is a squirrel, who changes the timeline in such a way as to cause Lou serious problems, his role is as central as the gopher from Caddyshack.

They all take a trip to Kodiak Valley, now a disappointing run down snowy alpine town ski resort that has certainly hit hard times since they last went years ago, it has almost become a ghost town. They check into the same lodge, even the same room where they have had quite a few great times some 20 years before.

Helping them to their room is a bad tempered bellhop Phil, who once was a nice guy but now since their first stay, has lost an arm and hates any assistance in getting their luggage to their room. Phil is played by Crispin Glover, who recently played Stayne in Alice in Wonderland and interestingly also played Marty's father, George McFly in 1985's Back to the Future. There is an ongoing side plot in the film where Phil always seems to be in danger of losing his arm. Phil certainly could do with some Health and Safety training as we always catch him living dangerously. Of course, the worrying thing for the time travellers is that it always seems to survive.

Chevy Chase, who has just completed Jack and the Beanstalk and was Ty Webb in 1980's Caddyshack plays the hot tub service man who is responsible for cleaning and or fixing the hot tub at any time. He is there to help get their hot tub cleaned, particularly of any animal carcasses. It seems as if some raccoon tried the time machine earlier but died in the process.

When the time machine is activated, helped by the chemicals in some Russian energy drink it becomes a surreal experience. By getting absolutely drunk they forget about the guy who got in wearing a bear costume and the naked women that suddenly appeared in there with them.

They wake up in the hot tub, but they have no idea what has happened to them. It is now 20 years earlier, they are now in 1986. On the very day they went for the Winterfest '86 music festival when they were younger. I wish my alarm clock had that facility for even just for an hour or two.

Recognition of their time travel? It was not the fact that everyone seemed to be sporting retro fashions on the ski slope. It is the Winterfest of 1986. It is the age of bright clothes, big hair and leg warmers. However it was not this that proved to them that they had arrived earlier in time. It was not even vague recognition of faces and people that were around 20 years before, or that all the programs on the TV were from the 80's. You probably would not have guessed how they could tell they had landed in the eighties. Eventually with the suspicion of what could be happening Nick asks a girl if Michael Jackson was black or white. When she replies 'he's black!?' this was proof positive of time travel which sends him screaming back to the room.

There is one feature of this time machine that is unique however; their bodies are 20 years younger - a big business opportunity there I think. Of course Jacob is not 20 yet so that causes his reality to be in question, his image in the mirror flickers strangely.

Sensibly they each start off trying to do everything the same as they did 20 years prior, but one by one they succumb to the temptations of doing things differently.

Lou gets beaten up by Blaine and all his friends once again. Blaine is played by Sebastian Stan, who was Carter Braizen in the series Gossip Girl. Lou once again challenges him to a rematch, sadly last time he did this his friends did not turn up to support him and he gets severely beaten. Nick promises to go with him this time but never makes it after his now brilliant performance at the show, only when it is too late he remembers that promise. Blaine however finds an iPhone, glasses and a Russian drink in the bag he stole from Lou during the fight and thinks that Lou must be a Russian spy. Remember the 'cold war'?

Is this really happening right now, new humans on a new planet earth? Are we being given the opportunity to become a world where love, wisdom and compassion are replacing hate, ignorance and judgement? Are we evolving to the next step of human consciousness? Stepping into unity consciousness from the present consciousness of duality. There is a lot of evidence given to us from indigenous cultures and also from present day "new age" channels that would support a positive answer to this question.

The Hopi Indians have called this time we are approaching as "the days of purification." Many have prophesied this time as the "Great Shift of the Ages." Some religions have their own description of a time where the messiah will return. That messiah is us right now. Revelations in the New Testament describes a time that many translate as an end to the human race. This can also be translated as a new beginning for mankind if read from this perspective. The Hindu Yugas have shown that we are entering the cycle of awakening from our sleep into the Satya Yuga or golden age.

The most famous of these prophesies comes from the Mayans of Central America. The end of the Mayan long count calendar comes on December 21st 2012. This is the end of the grand cycle that has lasted over 5000 years. If we have the belief that life is eternal then this date may be looked at as an end but also a new beginnings. The circle begins again. If you listen to the Mayan Elders of present day they have told us that this is a time for a new human to emerge. A human that has the attributes of knowing that we are one with all things. That we can live in peace and harmony with each other knowing that we are all perfect. The time of realizing these truths is right now and according to the Mayans a mere four years from now.

There have been many masters throughout history that have left us clues to help us remember who we truly are. The most famous being Jesus and Buddha and Muhammad. All have told us to look within to remember that we are masters too. They anchored into human consciousness the potential for the changes in humanity that I have been discussing throughout this series.

Saint Francis of Assisi, the Sufi poet Rumi, Leonardo Da Vinci, William Blake, and many more, have all contributed to helping us through their works to see the truth of our being. More recently Albert Einstein, Edgar Cayce, Mahatma Gandhi the Dalia Lama all have messages of empowerment if we choose to interpret them from that perspective.

Present day "new age" channels like Lee Carroll who channels Kryon has been giving us the information about now being the time for humans to wake up to a new way of being. Kryon since 1989 has been giving us the nudges to help us remember. Steve Rother, the channel for the Group, in his book "Remember" lays out the groundwork for us to know how the new human will be. Geoffrey Hoppe who channels Tobias has offered invaluable guidance for those who know that this lifetime is the most important lifetime in human history.

Since the Harmonic Convergence in 1987 when we chose to take the next step into the path of enlightenment many things have changed in our world. The Berlin wall came down. The Soviet Union harmonized with the west. The global communication structures like the Internet have brought us closer to each other, giving us the ability to see that we are all the same. The integration of cultures that we are experiencing now is unmatched in human history. Quantum physics has revealed unseen dimensions and truths about the control we have over our reality. Science in general is uncovering clues to the concept of the unity of all things. With the invention of the computer the human knowledge base has expanded with unparalleled speed in the last 25 years. It is all contributing to the end result of awakening humanity.

The Earth herself is undergoing these vibrational shifts as well, evidenced by changing weather patterns, global warming and geological episodes that have no precedent in recorded history. Just as matter changes state with changes in temperature and pressure, the earth, and by extension, our bodies, are affected by the magnetic field and frequency or vibration of our planet. The magnetic field around the earth is weakening along with the increasing vibration of the earth. Both these factors are allowing for us to change our state or perspective on our reality. This is an involved topic which I will leave for another time. Suffice it to say that the signs of unprecedented change are all around us if we choose to interpret them as signs of the great shift happening right now.

There has to be living bridges to help others to cross into the new consciousness. Lighthouses that shine their light so others can see their way, but not interfere with their paths.

Their is a recoding of our DNA that is possible right now. Science calls it a "spontaneous genetic mutation." This is what I experienced seven years ago. I have no doubt that it happened. I became a completely different person with a total shift in my perspective on everything, virtually, in an instant. I know that if this transformation was available for me, it is there for all of us.

Since LeBron took his talents to South Beach, LeBron has been the most controversial player in NBA history. The viewership of the NBA has risen to heights not seen since Michael Jordan's time. The viewership on cable TV, regular TV, NBAtv.com, downloads on cell phones, live games at even the competitors arena when the Heat and LeBron were playing have made the NBA a popular sport again.

I am going to say that LeBron is my favorite player and why people dislike LeBron is puzzling to me. He never committed a crime or did anything to hurt anyone and yet he is either hated (which is a vulgar word) or very disliked. He may be arrogant at times but look in your mirror and tell me you were never proud or arrogant about something in your life. Can you throw the first stone?

Nonetheless, the NBA owners and David Stern, commissioner (who appears to be on the side of the owners) will reverse the increase in popularity of the NBA.

I think if David Stern and the owners don't come to some agreement before the season begins, they are going to see a drop and huge loss of income, not only for 2011-2012, but for many years to come.

What if some of the great players go and play in Europe that only have a 1 year contract left or free agents now and stay in Europe, the owners of those respective teams will probably lose. We have 3 big players with a one year contract that can opt to stay in Europe if they decide to play there--Dwight Howard, Chris Paul, and Derron Williams. Once in Europe, they do not have to return to the NBA if they decide to play there and then they will be free agents in the summer of 2012.

In reality there are so many players in the summer of 2011 that are becoming free agents or restricted free agents. So if there continues to be an NBA lockout for half a year or a full year, it will be complete chaos of where the players can or will go.

Depending on the owners of the teams and David Stern's arrogance (my opinion) may piss off some of the top players that they will not return to their respective teams because of the greed or the way they handle the Collective Bargaining Agreement (CBA).

There are many free agents or restricted free agents for 2012. Restricted free agents include Derrick Rose, Kevin Love, Danilo Gallinari, Eric Gordon, Brook Lopez and Russell Westbrook. A restricted free agent, in essence, is allowed to entertain offers from interested teams, but are at the mercy of their current team. The current team has seven days to match any offer or come within 10 percent of the offer.

New viewers for the 2010-2011 NBA may not come back. One year is a long time or even half a year is a long time for the CBA to be ironed out. The money lost in the long run will absolutey be more than the stubbornness of the owners and David Stern.

The money the teams lost appeared to be the owners' fault and not the players. How about all the players that were fined fouls (unfairly at times). Let David Stern share that with losing teams. I am sure it is a huge amount of money.

Plus, the owners didn't have to pay a large amount of money for mediocre players. Even small market teams have stars like the LA Clippers with Blake Griffin and Oklahoma City Thunder with Kevin Durant and Westbrook.

The owners should stop crying the blues and coach better. Get the good team players to step up. There are good team players on each team but where are the great coaches. They should know that defense wins games. Look at Kevin Love in the Minnesota Timberwoves - amazing defensive player and yet the team had a poor winning record.

The NBA owners should get rid of players who do not live up to their contracts or the team's playing standard. If the players won't play their hardest, hasta la vista players.

David Stern and owners, get it together now. Otherwise David Stern and the owners will be blamed for the decrease in viewership for many years to come and will reverse the LeBron Ripple Effect.
